Track 2: Climate Change and Affordable Housing

This session will cover different types of improvements that could be made in houses and settlements to be more resilient to various climate hazards. Housing presents an often-overlooked opportunity to address climate adaptation and mitigation solutions in a way that profoundly benefits vulnerable populations.

Key areas for panel discussion could be:

  • Building climate resilience in informal settlements through policy instruments such as : incentives/ subsidies; investments and/ or  taxation
  • Role of ‘people’ and communities is preparedness for climate resilience
