Affordable Greening Technologies and Climate Change Adaptation on a Household Level

Track 2: Climate Change and Affordable Housing

The session would cover different construction technologies  and design features that are be affordable to low-income households. The built environment contributes 37 percent of global GHG emissions. It is estimated that 70 percent of buildings required to match the growing demand in urban centers are yet to be built, with the risk of exacerbating the climate crisis. Key focus areas for panel discussion could include:

  • Challenges to green technology adoption
  • Policy measures to stimulate private investments green technologies 
  • Development of ecosystem for construction of climate-smart, affordable houses and promotion of circular economies/ resource efficiency/ sustainable consumption and production
  • Green affordable housing finance
