27-28 June, 2017 (Opening at 08:15am)
InterContinental Hotel Phnom Penh

Address: Mao Tse Toung Boulevard (245), Phnom Penh 12306, Cambodia

As part of Habitat for Humanity Cambodia’s support to the implementation of the National Housing Policy, a National Housing Forum (NHF) is being organized 27-28 June 2017, to be held at the InterContinental Hotel Phnom Penh. The Minister for Land Management Urban Planning and Construction, Senior Minister Chea Sophara has agreed to open the National Housing Forum.

The aim of the NHF is to create opportunities for housing sector stakeholders to discuss, debate, plan actions, and identify issues, needs, and challenges to the housing sector. It will also provide opportunities to improve consideration of the sector in national development (NSDP) planning processes, and to highlight the need to prepare for sub-national administrative considerations in Provincial, District, Municipal, and Commune/Sangkats planning processes. The objectives of the NHF are to:

  • Adopt a broad dialogue with the participation of multi-stakeholders (governmental sector, private sector, community organizations and universities and institutions) on housing issues, challenges, solutions and innovations within the framework of the NHP and in view and in light of the SDGs.
  • Identify and promote scalable affordable housing solutions for Cambodia and to identify areas for collaboration and possible actions on housing and land related issues and strengthen partnerships within and across the housing sector.
  • Provide a neutral, objective venue and an opportunity for multi-stakeholder multi-sector engagement and build a sector wide platform for sharing on innovative housing technologies practices and financing
  • Showcase successful projects and approaches and provide support to motivate individuals, organizations and the private sector to improve housing conditions, so more people have a decent and affordable place to live
  • Discuss national housing regulations, initiatives and solutions being adopted to address the issue of unaffordable housing in urban and rural contexts, from public, private and civil society sector organizations.

As space will be limited at the Forum, organizations, agencies, institutions companies will need to confirm their participation for this event, with a maximum of two participants with at least one participant confirming for the full event to contribute your perspective and inputs.
